WORLD: The David & Leighan Rinker Center for International Learning Essay Contest
 




If you studied abroad between  Fall 2018 through Summer 2019, we welcome you to enter the third annual WORLD: The David and Leighan Rinker Center for International Learning Essay Contest. We are focusing on a theme we call “Hatters Abroad” so we want to read about you and your friends living, learning, and experiencing the world beyond our borders! Be sure to make them great because the winner will receive a $100 Amazon gift card!

The Essay Contest aims to capture the essence of study abroad by encouraging you to reflect and write creatively about the unique living and learning experiences that study abroad provides. 

By submitting your story, you help your fellow students and people in the community know, feel and appreciate what it is like to study abroad - the challenging things and the funny stories, moments that made you cringe and ones that changed your life.

Participant Qualifications:
Open to all students of Stetson University who have studied or interned abroad in Fall 2018, Winter Break 2018/19, Spring 2019, Spring Break 2019, and Summer 2019

Judging:
1. Essays will undergo judging by staff at WORLD: The David and Leighan Rinker Center for International Learning.
2. The winner will be announced on November 15th!

Essay Submissions:
• Please include your name, title of your essay and the name of the program you participated in at the top of your essay.
• Essay must be no more than four double-spaced pages. Include your name on every page.
• Entries may not include discussion of alcohol, drugs, or any kind of illegal or inappropriate behavior.
• One entry per student.
• Essays should be submitted to: world.stetson.edu by November 10, 2019.
• Submissions must be accompanied by an electronically signed release form giving Stetson University the right to use his/her entry for promotional purposes in college publications, college slide shows or in any other non-commercial manner.
• The winner will be asked to supply photos from their study abroad experience.
